Depending on your source of information, 60 to more than 70 percent of African American Women are Overweight or Obese. Unhealthy eating, lack of moderate exercise, problems with managed health care are just some of the contributing factors to this community health crisis. Obesity causes serious life threatening health issues.
At the KJLH Women’s Health Forum, we will address
these and other health issues through panel discussions, break out sessions
which provide a more intimate informational setting. We’re promoting
physical fitness with our work out sessions providing exercise, yoga and
pilates. Bring your workout clothes!
Parenting workshops will give you tips on raising your
family while a special full day workshop just for your teen and pre-teen
girls will provide a valuable educational experience.
Other areas of interest include discussions on HIV/AIDS,
Diabetes, HPV, breast, and general gynecology, just to name a few.
Hair and scalp experts will be on hand to provide Hair Analysis.
On-site Health Screenings will include mammography, PAP,
diabetes, and body fat analysis. Also, Rapid HIV testing, cholesterol
and blood pressure.
The Convention Center Theater will be open this year with a schedule of films spotlighting women’s health issues.
And don’t forget our infamous RAFFLE DRAWING at the
close of the event!
